The rain finally went away and we enjoyed a couple more days of camping/hiking in the Smokies. We started with the Kephart Prong trail. It was one of the shorter trails as 4 miles round trip. We decide to hike this particular trail because we wanted to see what the shelters for backpacking look like.

Some how Husband convinced me that we should do to a day hike and hike to Mt. Le Conte. There are cabins on the top of Mt. Le Conte but the only way to get there is to hike and the shortest hike is a little over 5 miles up which makes it about 11 miles in all. It was worth it! It was like a little village. We went to the lodge which has a small store and common room. There were various cabins spread over the mountain. We had the lunch we packed in at the top with an amazing view. We were exhausted by the time we got back to the campground.

Then on Wednesday we biked the Cades Cove Loop. It was nice considering they close the loop to cars until 10am so we got there about 7:30 and were able to finish before the cars were allowed in.  The loop was 11 miles and it was  fun seeing the wildlife and getting to bike in the morning.
