Tukery Brine

We were feeding a large group of people a large whole turkey and a smaller turkey breast. One of the ladies helping prepare the food had the idea of brining a turkey. I have never brined a turkey before. I was very impressed. The turkey turned out moist and tender and juicy. When Thanksgiving comes this is a must for any turkey.

This is the recipe we used:

  • 12 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup kosher salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sage
  • 2 tablespoons thyme
  • 2 tablespoons rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 4 cups ice
